Grade Level Expectations
As our motto states, we are committed to our development as adaptive learners, global thinkers, and responsible citizens through collaboration across our school community. Grade Level Expectations:
9th Grade - (1) Aware of opportunities available to become engaged in the school community. (2) Show awareness of their social and emotional learning. (3) Gather information and use it to make claims. (4) Read, comprehend, and make inferences from texts. (5) Write a five paragraph theme, using 8-11 sentences per paragraph. (6) Complete a task collaboratively. (7) Communicate a concept through written, visual, and verbal means. (8) Use models and tools to solve problems. (9) Analyze and interpret information. (10) Practice various assessment strategies. (11) Identify connections between various disciplines. (12) Identify academic strengths and areas for improvement.
10th Grade - (1) Engage in events and curriculum in the school community. (2) Explore and understand ways to foster peer and self social and emotional growth. (3) Read, comprehend, and make inferences from texts. (4) Research and use support in a fully developed writings of approximately 2-3 pages. (5) Communicate effectively through technical documents, verbal explanations, written reflections, or peer collaboration. (6) Develop active listening, aural, and visual skills. (7) Use explanations and models to evaluate a solution. (8) Collect, analyze, and interpret data. (9) Identify a problem and construct a solution to that problem using data. (10) Understand connections between the various disciplines. (11) Practice test taking strategies on assessments. (12) Plan, implement, and evaluate one’s participation in activities and organizations that improve school climate.
11th Grade - (1) Engage in events and curriculum in the school and community. (2) Take proactive steps to support your own and your peers’ social and emotional learning. (3) Read, interpret, and comprehend difficult texts. (4) Research and make claims about a variety of issues in a fully developed paper of approximately 3-4 pages. (5) Communicate effectively through technical documents, verbal explanations, and peer collaborations. (6) Develop critical listening, aural, and visual skills. (7) Construct and use explanations and models to design and evaluate solutions. (8) Collect, analyze, interpret, and defend data from multiple sources and perspectives. (9) Create a project, analyze its data, and report results/solutions. (10) Apply concepts in other contexts across various disciplines. (11) Demonstrate effective testing skills. (12) Demonstrate dependability and accountability. (13) Understand the importance of appearance - dress and act appropriately independently. (14) Revise a post-secondary goal with action steps, time frames, and criteria for evaluating achievement.
12th Grade - (1) Be civically engaged. (2) Show advanced recognition of social and emotional learning. (academic/career plans and goals and social/emotional behaviors) (3) Read, analyze, and comprehend sophisticated texts. (4) Write with supporting evidence and a clear and distinct perspective for a variety of contexts and tasks. (5) Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of verbal and written communication. (6) Design, evaluate, and revise a model using appropriate tools to solve a problem. (7) Critique and analyze information from multiple sources and perspectives. (8) Create a project, analyze its data, and report results/solutions. (9) Describe and illustrate how common themes are found across various disciplines. (10) Work cooperatively with others to plan, implement, and evaluate a project that addresses an identified need in the broader community.
